ICEI-Business Confidence Index
As a leading indicator of industrial performance, the ICEI detects shifts in industrial production trends. The data required for building the ICEI index are collected in tandem with the Industrial Survey and the Construction Survey. Confidence indices are made available for three company sizes (small, medium and large), for the five Brazilian geographic regions, and for the different sectors of the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and construction industries.
Pessimism about the economy causes a retreat in industrial confidence
In November 2024, the Index of Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence (ICEI) recorded a decrease of 0.6 points, falling to 52.6 points. This retreat in confidence reflects a more negative assessment and greater pessimism regarding the Brazilian economy, while the assessment of industrial entrepreneurs about their own companies remained positive.
