ICEI - Industrial Sectors
The ICEI, as a precursor index of industrial performance, signals changes in industrial production trends. The survey that gathers the necessary information to the construction of the ICEI is made in conjunction with the Industrial Survey and the Construction Industry Survey. The ICEI – Industrial Sectors displays results from the mining and quarrying, construction and manufacturing industries, as well as their sectors. The publication also makes confidence indexes available for the three company sizes (small, medium and large) and for the five geographic regions of Brazil.
Industry Confidence in the Southeast Declines, Impacting National Results
In April 2025, the Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (ICEI) for the Southeast region's industry experienced the largest decline among all regions, significantly affecting the national ICEI outcome. It is the lowest level of confidence for the Southeast industry's since June 2020. Besides the Southeast region, confidence also fell in the Northeast, North, and Midwest, across all sizes of industrial companies (small, medium, and large) and in 15 out of 29 sectors. The April balance sheet shows a lack of confidence in all sizes of industrial companies (small, medium, and large), the industries of the Southeast and South regions, and 23 of the 29 industrial sectors.
