ICEI-Business Confidence Index
As a leading indicator of industrial performance, the ICEI detects shifts in industrial production trends. The data required for building the ICEI index are collected in tandem with the Industrial Survey and the Construction Survey. Confidence indices are made available for three company sizes (small, medium and large), for the five Brazilian geographic regions, and for the different sectors of the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and construction industries.
Industry begins 2025 with pessimism
In January 2025, the Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (ICEI) fell by 1.0 point, from 50.1 points to 49.1 points. This is the fourth consecutive drop of the index, accumulating a 4.2 point decrease since September. The transition to a level below the 50-point dividing line indicates that the industry is starting to show a lack of confidence at the beginning of the year 2025.
