The Brazilian National Confederation of Industry promoted, on 16th December 2021, at 10:30 am the live “The importance of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework”.

The Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework is an instrument under negotiation within the scope of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and defines targets to face the challenges related to the loss of biodiversity.

The instrument intends to encourage and engage society to achieve the established targets, thus contributing to the three main objectives of the CBD related to biodiversity conservation, sustainable use of its components and fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from this use.

The Brazilian industry understands that the participation of the private sector in the construction and implementation of this plan is fundamental. In this sense, the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI) prepared the study “The Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework: Contributions from the Brazilian Industry” to establish an ambitious, technical, and feasible instrument.

The virtual event aimed to debate the topic with actors who are essential for achieving the goals and facing the challenges presented. On this occasion, we launched the CNI study that aims to show, in a simple and objective way, points of improvement to the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

Thus, CNI reaffirmed the desire of the industrial sector to build solutions for the sustainable development of the country.
