Myron Briliant

Myron Brilliant executive vice president and head of international affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, drives the global business strategy of the organization.

He leads the largest international affairs team of any U.S. business association, representing the Chamber and its members before the U.S. government, foreign governments, and international business organizations.

Over his career, Brilliant has directed and led a number of important advocacy campaigns for congressional passage of trade agreements.

Brilliant serves on the board of the Atlantic Council, the U.S. Council for International Business, the Center for International Private Enterprise, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, and the Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid for USAID. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the National Committee on United States-China Relations and serves as an economic development adviser to the governor of China’s Guangdong Province.

He is frequently quoted in the media on a broad range of issues relating to international business and trade policy and is a regular guest on CNBC, CNN, and other news programs.

Previously, Brilliant was the Chamber’s vice president for Asia, where he significantly expanded the reach and impact of the organization’s Asia program.

Before joining the Chamber in 1994, Brilliant was an attorney with Stewart and Stewart in Washington, D.C.

He received his J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law and his B.A. in government and politics from the University of Maryland.

Ernesto Araújo

Ambassador Ernesto Araújo holds a degree in Language Studies from the University of Brasília.

In 1990, he joined the Rio Branco Institute (Brazilian Diplomatic Academy). In the early years of his career, he worked on regional integration and Mercosur affairs.

Between 1995 and 2003, he served at the Mission to the European Communities, in Brussels, and at the Embassy of Brazil in Germany.

Upon his return to Brazil, in 2003, he worked at the Services, Investments and Financial Affairs Division, which he chaired as of 2004. In 2005, he became head of the European Union and Extra-regional Negotiations Division.

From 2007, he was posted at the embassies in Canada (2007-2010) and the United States (2010-2015) where he served as deputy head of the Mission.

From 2015 to 2016, he was deputy chief of staff of the minister of Foreign Affairs.

In 2016, he was appointed director of the United States, Canada and Inter-American Affairs Department, a position he held until he was nominated minister of Foreign Affairs.

He has published the books Mercosul Hoje (Mercosur Today), co-authored with Sergio de Abreu and Lima Florêncio, and three works of fiction.

He was born in Porto Alegre in 1967. He is married, has one daughter and two stepchildren.

Raquel Landim

Journalist, Economics Analyst CNN Brasil 

Ms. Ladim has a B.A. in journalism from USP. She is 42 years old, an Economics Analyst at CNN Brasil. Prior to that she worked as a special reporter and columnist for Folha Newspaper,  at Estadão and Valor. She is the author of "Why not", book report on the JBS plea bargain, by the Intrinsic editors

Carlos Gustavo Poggio

Carlos Poggio is a Professor and researcher in International Relations with a focus on United States politics. His postdoctoral research at Georgetown University (Washington DC, USA) was on Donald Trump's accession to the presidency. He holds a PhD in International Studies with Fulbright scholarship from Old Dominion University (Virginia, USA). He was a professor of undergraduate and graduate courses of International Relations at PUC-SP, where he was also course coordinator and head of department. He is currently a professor of International Relations at FAAP and a researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology for Studies on the United States (INCT-INEU). Author of dozens of articles in Brazil and abroad. He is the author of "Brazil, the United States, and the South American Subsystem" (Lexington, 2012), named by Foreign Affairs magazine as one of the best international relations books of 2012, and "The Neoconservative Thought in Foreign Policy in the United States" (UNESP, 2010),

John Murphy

John G. Murphy directs the U.S. Chamber’s advocacy relating to international trade and investment policy. He joined the Chamber in 1999.

From 2001 to 2008, Murphy served as the Chamber’s Vice President for Western Hemisphere Affairs and as Executive Vice President of the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America (AACCLA). In 2008, he received AACCLA’s Eagle of the Americas award, which is given annually to the individual who has “done the most to advance our mission of increased trade and investment between the United States and Latin America.”

In the 1990s, Murphy worked at the International Republican Institute (IRI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of democracy overseas, and at the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), which champions market-oriented economic reform around the world. From 1992 to 1993, he was the first Western lecturer in economics at the National University of Economics in Czechoslovakia.

Murphy graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and he received his Master of Science degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He serves on the boards of the Global Business Dialogue, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, and the Washington International Trade Foundation. He is fluent in Spanish.

Kellie Meiman Hock

Managing Partner, McLarty Associates since 2000.

Ms. Meiman previously worked at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) as Director for Brazil and the Southern Cone, where she had primary responsibility for trade negotiations with Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. Prior to her work at USTR, Ms. Meiman served as a foreign service officer with the US Department of State. An Economic Officer in the foreign service, Ms. Meiman previously had served in Porto Alegre, São Paulo, and Recife, Brazil, and in Bogotá, Colombia. She has lived and studied in Central America and Japan.

Ms. Meiman is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Inter-American Dialogue. She sits on the board of the Brazil-US Business Council. She also is Chairwoman of the Chile-based development NGO América Solidaria US. Ms. Meiman often writes and speaks on policy matters related to trade, Brazil, and Latin America.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Ms. Meiman is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She fluently speaks Spanish and Portuguese and is active in policy and politics at the national level and in the Commonwealth of Virginia, where she resides.
