Productivity in Brazilian manufacturing

Effective labor productivity grew by 0.4% between 2022 and 2023. This is the first positive result of the indicator since 2019. The indicator compares the productivity of Brazilian industry with the average of its 10 main trading partners – the United States, Argentina, Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom. Although Brazil recorded a decline in productivity in 2023, of 0.3%, its performance was better than that of most of its 10 main trading partners. Regarding the quarterly productivity indicator, Brazil registered an increase of 0.8% in the third quarter of 2024, compared to the second quarter of the year.
