Brazil is home to the richest biodiversity on the planet. This abundant natural wealth offers vast opportunities for the country's sustainable development, but the exploitation of these resources must be conducted responsibly. This course has been created to assist businesses in understanding and applying the Biodiversity Law, also known as the Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) Law. This legislation regulates research and technological development using Brazilian genetic heritage and the traditional knowledge associated with it and establishes benefit-sharing mechanisms to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of this precious asset. This course is an initiative by CNI, IEL, and the Corporate University SESI SENAI, developed in partnership with GSS Carbono e Bioinovação, Ateliê Mattricaria, and Estudio Piquenique.
The course is self-instructional and presents self-explanatory content on concepts, obligations, and procedures established in Law nº13,123 of May 20, 2015, known as the Biodiversity Law or Access and Benefit-Sharing Law.
Context and history of the ABS Brazilian Law;
Concepts, instruments, main obligations, and infringements provided in the ABS Law;
Procedures related to compliance with obligations and inspection.
The course model is self-instructional. This format aims to bring autonomy and independence to the student through self-explanatory content, therefore there is no tutoring or guidance provided. The course has a duration of 15 hours. Therefore, feel free to set up your study plan and progress at your own learning pace.
