COP-27
The Climate Change Conference of the Parties has been promoted by the United Nations (UN) since 1995 and brings together leaders from virtually every country. The meeting is the largest and most important climate conference in the world, where actions and measures to fight global warming and climate change are discussed and determined. Key milestones of the climate conferences include the adoption of the Paris Agreement at COP-21 and the creation of the global carbon market at COP-26.
COP-27, which will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from November 6 to 18, 2022, will discuss issues such as finance, science, decarbonization, adaptation and agriculture, water, energy, biodiversity, among others. The primary goals to be achieved (official themes of the Conference) include:
- Maintaining the global warming limit of 1.5°C;
- Increased ambition for climate change adaptation measures;
- Progress in mobilizing climate finance;
- Technology transfer and qualification;
- Continuing discussions on the further development of Article 6 adopted in Glasgow (COP26);
- The increase of actions related to losses and damages as a result of the effects of climate change.
CNI AT COP-27
As a key player on the climate agenda, Brazil has tremendous potential to lead these discussions and contribute effectively to address the challenges of this urgent climate scenario. Industry is an important part of this process, as it can foster a virtuous cycle of employment and income generation towards a low-carbon economy.
To contribute to this international movement, understanding its leadership role in representing the country's economic sectors, CNI developed a strategy to speed up the implementation of programs and technologies needed to move forward in the short and medium term towards greenhouse gas emissions reduction and climate neutrality by 2050. The industry proposal to consolidate the low-carbon economy in Brazil has 4 pillars: energy transition, carbon market, circular economy, and forest conservation.
NOVEMBER 15, 2022 | BUSINESS DIALOGUE FOR A LOW CARBON ECONOMY EVENT
(Renaissance Sharm El-Sheikh Golden View Beach Resort | Sharm El-Sheikh | Egypt)

The aim of the event is to create an environment for debate and networking between the ICC networks and the Brazilian industry; discuss relevant issues of the climate agenda to be debated at the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP-27); discuss business and investment opportunities to decarbonize the industry and contribute to the emission reduction targets set in the Paris Agreement; and to discuss the industry strategy and agenda for the COP 28 in Dubai (UAE).
