ICEI - Industrial Sectors
The ICEI, as a precursor index of industrial performance, signals changes in industrial production trends. The survey that gathers the necessary information to the construction of the ICEI is made in conjunction with the Industrial Survey and the Construction Industry Survey. The ICEI – Industrial Sectors displays results from the mining and quarrying, construction and manufacturing industries, as well as their sectors. The publication also makes confidence indexes available for the three company sizes (small, medium and large) and for the five geographic regions of Brazil.
Lack of confidence affects the highest number of industrial sectors since June 2020
In January 2025, the Index of Entrepreneurial Confidence in Industry (ICEI) recorded a widespread decline among different industrial segments. With the decline, industries from various sectors and regions shifted from a state of confidence to a state of lack of confidence between December 2024 and January 2025. Thus, the lack of confidence is present in 23 industrial sectors in January, the highest number since June 2020. Additionally, with the exception of the Northeast region, industrial entrepreneurs from all other regions are recording a lack of confidence. Small and medium-sized industries also continue to register a lack of confidence.
